I bought this kit to go around my vegetable garden because some animal was climbing over the fence and eating my plants. I was unable to figure out what it was but it was some animal that will climb a fence; like a raccoon or woodchuck. I could have bought the parts and made the kit myself but it would have cost more and taken a lot longer. I needed something I could quickly install because my crops were being devastated and I didn't want to wait another night. The kit is simple to install but doesn't contain much instruction about the heights of the wires. I found info on the internet about that and ran the wires from 5" up to 12" in height. Installation took about 1.5hrs. It comes with a tester to make sure it works properly but I was curious as to what the critter would feel so I touched the electrified wire with the back of my finger. This thing gives a very hefty wallop as I could feel pain and discomfort up my arm for a good 5 minutes afterworlds. I won't touch it again that's for sure. After instillation I have had ZERO problems with animals in my garden. It works Awesome. I like the fact that the controller makes a faint audible sound and has a little light on the front that blinks. I can look out my window at night and see that thing blinking and feel good that my garden is safe. Only complaint and reason for not giving 5 stars is the posts are a little wimpy. I had to reinforce the corners with a second post of my own creation to keep them from bending over. I would buy this unit again.

I have had mine for about 3 years and it has finally given out. I liked it well enough that I am going to buy another. I have two german shepherds that like to run through my garden and this worked great. Only took one touch and since then just the little beep it makes was enough to keep them away. Feels similar to a strong static shock. It keeps out other critters, but possums can go under it. I am going to try putting the wires closer together again. It seems to go through batteries about one a month...not to bad. Much better than replacing my garden weekly. I do advise using stronger fence posts..the included pvc ones are not really strong enough. Wood or metal is fine.Buy it!

I have a small garden, but a lot of rabbits, deer and raccoon in the area. I liked the price and it seemed to be just what I needed. It was shipped to me very quickly. It was also VERY easy to set up! It took me a little over two hours to install. Since I had a regular wire fence set up for the rabbits that is a little over 3 feet high, I attached the plastic posts to the tops of the posts that the wire fence was mounted on. I had the plastic poles clear the top of the metal ones by about 6 or 8 inches. It works perfectly! My husband wasn't sure it really was working after I had done the install, so guess what! Yep, he gave it a quick grab to see if I did it right. I feel a little sorry for the raccoons and deer if they hit it!!! He was very cranky for a couple minutes.So far nothing has touched my garden and the first set of batteries are still charging the fence after a month. I don't understand how anyone could have a problem setting up this unit. It was quick, it was easy and,as my husband will agree,it WORKS!!
