I'll start with my conclusion. This product paid for itself within 3 months of owning it, and now is saving me money every time it rains.I live in Houston, it rains a lot, but very sporadically. I've had ridiculously high water bills the past few years because of how sporadic the rainfall is, and my need to top off my pool so that the pump runs correctly. I bought two of these with the express intent of helping to top off my pool water levels. If you are reasonably handy and willing to cut a portion of your gutter (which I am both), this takes two tools and about 30 minutes of time. You need a hacksaw ($10 at lowes) or a recipricating saw, and a screwdriver. It is very easy to hook up a couple hoses and run to your pool or some sort of retention barrell or area. There is a screen that keeps all leaves out of your hose, but will allow small amounts of asphalt from the roof to get through. If you are just watering something or topping off the pool, this is a very, very minor problem. Not enough to bother me.In summary, this was a great purchase. I am trying to figure out how i can add another one to my house so I can collect even more water from my roof.
