I cringed at having to hook up a harness for trailer light on my vehicle, having seen it done years ago and wiring countless stereos in vehicles of the years, I almost just paid to have someone do it for me. I'm so glad that I didn't have someone do it for me. This wiring harness was very easy, there is no cutting of existing wires on the vehicle, the unit plugs right in to your existing wire harness, then in to your lights. The hardest thing was running the power wire from the battery to the controller box, this was easy to accomplish, if, like someone else had said you simply follow the brake lines to the rear. Vehicle is very "uncluttered" underneath. This was $15 cheaper here than the other place I was looking. The average mechanically inclined person could have this set up in less than an hour, tools need were a drill with 3/16 drill bit (for grounding purposes), pair of wire strippers, pair of wire crimpers, and flashlight, and if you have a few extra wire ties(zip ties)it would be good, they give you enough but I like to make sure nothing goes where it shouldn't.

I'm not an electrician by any means, so when the package arrived I was a little overwhelmed by all the wires. However, I found that the instructions were very clear (although the photos weren't very good), and I was able to install this in my 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan in about 1 hour. The toughest part about the installation was running the power cord to the battery, and that was simply because it was difficult to get under the van to find the best route for the wires. I have yet to tow anything with this new hitch, but I'm assuming that things will work as designed.
