A bit over 1/2 a year ago I found myself raising a week old orphaned foal. I started out using Land O Lakes foal milk replacer because it was what the feed store I was going to most of the time (at the moment) was carrying. After going through a few 20lb buckets I ended going to another closer store that carries Foal Lac so I bought a 25lb bucket. It was $5 more than Land O Lakes but also 5lb heavier so I figured what the heck, & Foal Lac turned into my replacer of choice. From the foal's view she really didnt seem to care what brand & drank whatever as long as she got her meal (lol), but this brand was actually easier to mix & easier for her to drink. For a very long time I couldnt get her to nurse off anything else besides a Pritchard Nipple, & because those are designed for smaller animals the whole nipple & the opening the formula comes out of is smaller. I say this was easier for her to drink & me to mix because with Land O Lakes no matter how much I mixed it there would still be clots of powder that wouldnt dissolve even when mixed with hot water so the end of the nipple would get clogged, & I ended up having to use a toothpick or something to unclog it if she couldnt get it (which was most of the time). Foal Lac takes less blending & after little mixing there was generally little to no powder residue, let alone clots at the bottom of the container I mixed the formula in. Overall the quality appears better as well. I highly recommend this & will use it again if I ever end up with another bottle baby.NOTE: Pricewise I guess it depends on the area, but where I live, if I was paying full price (im a regular at a few places so sometimes I get discounts), I would pay $74.95 for a 25lb bucket so for now, this is definitely more expensive online.
