I like having control of 12 stations in one controller. yes it has digital settings, but for quick one time watering the manual slide settings are useful. This is my second Orbit controller. The first one lasted around 10 years.

We help our technology-challenged neighbors, and bought this to replace a very complicated system that had failed -- and which they never figured out how to use in the first place. With the manual sliders for each section, it is very easy to select the time to water AND turn that section on manually if necessary. Now we spend time visiting with them instead of programming the sprinklers!

this replaced a similarly styled 8-station controller that went out after 13 years. The new one has spring-loaded clamps to hold the wires instead of screws. It took a while to find out how to work them as I thought they lifted up and snapped down, instead of just being spring loaded, as the spring was very stiff. Otherwise it's pretty intuitive to operate.
