Worked great on our 2012 patriot! A few tips....
By tandb
Here are a few install tips since the Curt paperwork is for a 2011. Remove entire bummer. Don't worry it's easy and light. There are 3 - 9/32 screws behind each tire and 1 under the tire rim. There are 6 plastic fasteners along the very bottom of the plastic bumper fascia that can be removed with medium flat head screwdriver. Remove 5 more plastic fasteners under the lift gate. Wiggle bumper off gently and set aside. Remove 2 plastic bumper fastener plates that are exposed once bumper is removed, they are marked left and right. Pull off 2 rubber exhaust mounts (isolators) by spraying with WD40 or other lubricant and pulling off with a pair of channel locks from the bottom support bracket. (previous reviewer citing You Tube article on removing rubber exhaust mounts was VERY useful). Be ready to catch exhaust and rest it on something about 5-7 inches high. Letting it fall to the ground would damage exhaust where it attaches in the front of vehicle. Remove the heat shield's 4 nut caps and heat sheild. Remove tow loop if present, mine didn't have one. Install hitch which goes in between and on the inside of the vehicles mounting frame, there was a bit of wiggle room so we used 4 extra washers to get it centered. Install hitch bolts to the frame from the outside. Once you get the hitch centered but before you tighten it, gently place the bumper back in place and mark each side for your cut. Remove bumper and mark with masking tape your cut area. Refer to Curt paper work for measurements it's about 2 5/8" wide and 2 9/16" high. We cut using a grinding tool with cutting disc. Very easy. Test your cut by fitting bumper back on. If all is well, pull hitch all the way forward to clear exhaust mounts and torque your bolts to 75 ft lbs. Re-install heat shield, exhaust mounts and bumper. Took my husband, with my occasional help, about 2 hours. Most of that was getting it centered and pulled forward after we had already tightened once. Hopefully it will go faster with these tips. Looks like a quality unit and we had one mechanic say they were so much trouble he doesn't do them????? The dealership wanted $750. For a class TWO hitch installed with wiring!!!!!! This is a great buy at $105. With free shipping, a class THREE and almost anyone could install it. Got it Via FedEx, w/ free shipping on day 6. It was really very easy. Curt's instructions better than most, but with these tips, you're good to go. We are just using ours for a bike rack. Don't imagine you can pull much with this cute little 4 cyl.

Works with 2012 Jeep Patriot!
By Michael Prostka
Hello, just writing to let everyone know that it works. You do have to drop the exhaust and cut your bumper, if you're not handy or confident enough to do that, you may want to work with your dealer for them to install the hitch mount.Once it is installed, everything is very stable, works like a charm for me!If you have any troubles removing your exhaust, check out youtube channel "Surakusa" on "How to Remove Rubber Exhaust Hangers" great explanation and this made it MUCH easier.

This is the second Curt Receiver that I bought and I think the quality is unmatched. I installed this on my 2011 Jeep Patriot and it was very easy. The instructions were excellent and the fitment was perfect. I would highly recommend..
